Kerala HC cancels KEAM results over new rank calculation criteria

In a recent development, the Kerala High Court has cancelled the Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical (KEAM) 2025 entrance examination results. A single judge bench of the Honourable Judge D.K. Singh from the High Court gave this order. The judge noted that the final minute change in the method of engineering rank calculation negatively affected the student. However, the Kerala Government has filed an appeal against the order. The appeal is yet to be heard.

The KEAM 2025 was conducted from 23rd to 29th April, 2025. The result was announced on May 14, and on July 1, the final rank list was published. A student filed this petition, questioning the consolidation of marks in the final list based on the new formula. As per the new formula, the students decreased significantly.

CSIR UGC NET June exam 2025 schedule revised due to clash

The National Testing Agency has officially rescheduled the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, University Grant Commission NET 2025 for the July session. The CSIR UGC NET 2025 exam was scheduled for 25, 26, and 27 July. It is now postponed to 28 July 2025. The exam will be conducted in a single-day bracket. A total examination of all five subjects is planned for the 28th of July.

This shift was done, as many students raised the concern of the overlap of CSIR UGC NET with other exams. The Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test 2025 is also officially scheduled for 27 and 27 July. For the recent updates, you can visit the official website of the National Testing Agency, nta.ac.in. You can find the details of the exam city through an advance city intimation slip. This slip shall be released 8-10 days before the examination.

Delhi mandates English-medium section across classes in government schools

As per a new policy, the Delhi Government’s Directorate of Education has mandated the introduction of a minimum one English medium section in every class of the Government schools. The mandate applies from the academic session 2025-26. According to the circular, in this section, all the subjects except the regional language shall be taught in English. The focus is to strengthen the academic foundation of students planning to pursue higher education in the field of science, technology, and research.

This circular by the Directorate is a continuation of the earlier orders issued in 2014 and 2018. It is mandatory for all the Government schools. Moreover, the schools are directed to ensure the availability of appropriate books and learning materials in the English language for the students. Furthermore, the schools need to record the change, and it should be reflected on the Unified District Information System for Education (UDISE) portal.

Odisha: Fail System Introduced For Class 5, 8 Students

The Odisha State Government has amended the Odisha Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Rules, 2010. According to the change, the students who fail classes 5 and 8 must appear for the re-test. The new rule allows the school to conduct the annual exam twice. And, if the student fails the re-test, then they must be held back in the class.

The School and Mass Education Department released the notification. The notification clearly states that ‘all students of classes 5 and 8 need to appear for their annual examinations.’ And, if a child fails, the school shall provide additional instructions and an opportunity to sit for the re-test within the next two months. However, no student shall be expelled before the completion of elementary education.
