Every high school graduate dreams of studying in a premier institution. Getting your place in such institutions is a tough nut to crack. Most of you must be thinking about the challenging preparation phase and the anxiety of an exam hall. Let us tell you something, preparation haunts less if you prepare the right way. If you make a note of every nitty-gritty of the exam, its syllabus, exam pattern, marking scheme and other such factors, it will become easy to walk on a well-guided path.
So, here we are to familiarise you with the BITSAT Exam 2024, an admission test for one of the most premium institutions in the country. If you are completely new, this test is a computerised exam for admission to BE, BPharm and MSc programmes offered by BITS Pilani and its other campuses. The BITSAT exam is an entrance exam for admission into integrated first-degree programmes of BITS Pilani. The conducting body is obviously the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani, which is recognised as an institution of Eminence by the Government of India. BITS Pilani is India’s leading institution and is deemed to be a university with notable alumni and an illustrious history. The BITSAT is an admission test integrated first-degree programme for its campuses in Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad. You should have studied physics, chemistry, and mathematics/biology and be proficient in English. Don’t worry. The syllabus is based on the latest NCERT pattern. The exam is conducted between May and June, and the exact date for BITSAT 2024 has yet to be announced on the official website.

Since the BITSAT 2024 exam is conducted in two sessions, the application fee is charged accordingly. If you choose to take the exam twice, you will have to pay INR 5,400 for male candidates and INR 2,900 for female candidates. However, if you choose to appear only once, boys have to pay INR 3,400 and girls pay INR 2,900. Later, to apply for session 2, you have to pay an additional sum of INR 2,000 (male candidate) and INR 1,500 (female candidate). Another application fee payment format is to appear only for session 2, the male candidate has to pay INR 3400 and the female has to pay INR 2900.
Meanwhile, the application fee is different for those of you who choose Dubai as a test centre. It is INR 7000 for choosing either of the sessions and INR 9000 for appearing in both sessions. Please note that the application fee is non-transferable and non-refundable.
The BITSAT exam is conducted for admission to courses such as BE, MSc, and B Pharma in different BITS institutions. To appear in this exam, you must fulfil the following eligibility criteria:
For First-Degree Courses of BITS (except B.Pharm), you should have completed 10+2 education from a recognised state or central board. Your 12th subject should be Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, and you should have adequate proficiency in English.
For B Pharm.: You should have passed higher secondary education in 10+2 format from a recognised state or central education board. Your 12th should be completed in a PCB stream, i.e., Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. English proficiency is also required. However, PCM students may also apply for this programme.
A minimum of 75% is required in PCM or PCB stream depending upon the subject you have chosen in the BITSAT exam with at least 60% marks in each subject.
Admission is merit-based and depends on the BITSAT exam score.
Please note that only those students who are appearing for the 12th class examination in 2024 or have passed in the previous year can apply for the BITSAT exam 2024.

The BITSAT exam pattern may change every year at the institute’s discretion. Before 2022, the exam was evaluated out of 450; now, it’s 390. The candidate can appear two times in BITSAT 2024. The exam will be conducted in two sessions on two different dates. Session 1 and session 2 are separated by a gap of a few weeks. You can choose the date of your examination, centre and slot at your convenience.
Each session is of three hours with no breaks and consists of four parts:
Part I: Physics
Part II: Chemistry
Part III: English and Logical Reasoning
Part IV: Mathematics of Biology
The exam has multiple-choice questions, and each correct answer gets you three marks, whereas the wrong answer gets a penalty of one mark. So yes, be careful of the negative marking scheme in the BITSAT exam 2024. Moreover, there is no time limit for the different parts; you can change your responses. In total, there are 130 questions divided further as per the following scheme:

If you attempt all the questions without skipping and returning to previous ones, you get the option of attempting an extra 12 questions for the remaining time. This gives chance to highly meritorious students to score even higher.
Every year a large number of students appear for the BITSAT exam. So to accommodate a huge pool of applicants, the institute has arranged dedicated test centres other than BITS campuses in Pilani, Hyderabad and Goa.
