Solid Mechanics

Learn about solid Mechanics of Mechanical Engineering with its applicable concepts

course

IIT Delhi and NPTEL

About the Course

The course is divided into 12 modules and it is the first course in which the deformation of solid bodies and the corresponding ideas are explained to the students at the undergraduate level. The course starts by establishing the strong work of the concept of stress and strain in three-dimensional deformable bodies. It also employs these concepts to learn the extension, twisting and bending of beams. The one-dimensional theory of beams is also introduced. Students will also be presented with various theories of failure which are very essential in the design of machine elements in industries.
