This course will provide a detailed education about the designs of Mechatronic systems with practical insights.
NPTEL has brought this course in collaboration with IIT Bombay’s Mechanical Engineering department, which is much more oriented on the skills buildup of the candidates for creating new Mechatronics products right from conception to developing an idea. The course is devoted to the hands-on experience accompanied by the project and provides numerous pieces of advice on applying theory to practice. Moreover, the course encourages integrated thinking in the mechanical and electronics domain which is important when working on products. Prof. Prasanna Gandhi from IIT Bombay will be the course's instructor and will teach all 12 modules of this course.
The course is divided into 12 modules, which will be completed in 12 weeks. Each module will cover a few concepts connected with eachother,r and in the same manner, participants will get to learn about many essential concepts associated with the design of mechatronicMechatronic systems. However, the essential topics that will be covered in this course include:
It’s a high-level course in Mechanical Engineering that demands the knowledge of the background of Microprocessor Programming. Along with the fundamental knowledge associated with a Mechanical Engineering background, the understanding of the basics of dynamics of Planar Motion and Mechanics of Kinematics will be a plus. However, the most ideal candidates for this course would be:
