The university is situated in Gachibowli, Hyderabad and it was established by the Act of Parliament (Act No. 39 of 1974) on 2 October 1974 as a Central University. The University of Hyderabad offers distance education through its Centre for Distance and Virtual Learning. This center is among the oldest centers of the University of Hyderabad which was established in 1994. This distance education department of the University of Hyderabad is based on the directions received from the University Grants Commission and the Ministry of Human Resource Development. The University of Hyderabad Distance Education offers different diploma programs in multiple specializations and the Center for Distance and Virtual Learning has recently started offering diploma programs with NAARM (National Academy of Agricultural Research Management), NIRD & PR (National Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj), Truth Labs, Apollo Med Skills, IFCAI (Infection Control Academy of India). The CDVL has also been recognized as a National Consultative Member for the finalization of NAAC ODL accreditation procedures.

Admission Process

The admissions process takes place in online mode. Fresh admission starts from the month of January of every year. There are direct admissions, no entrance exam is conducted for the admission process.The addmission procedure 2025 for the online course at University of Hyderabad Distance Education is as follow:

STEP 1

Step 1: The first step in the admission process requires going through the eligibility criteria of the selected course and applying according to it.

STEP 2

Step 2: After checking the eligibility criteria, the interested student must visit the official website of the university and register on it.

STEP 3

Step 3: the registration process will give login credentials to the students which are further used in the admission process.

STEP 4

Step 4: The student must log on to the official website of the university and click on the online admission tab.

STEP 5

Step 5: After clicking on the admission tab, the online application form will pop up and students are required to fill out the application form with the required information.

STEP 6

Step 6: While filling out the application form students have to attach the required documents along with it.

Step 7: After attaching the documents and filling out the form student must pay the fee for their opted program.

Step 8: When the fee payment is done student can submit their application.

Step 9: After submitting the application form student must print out their their application form and fee receipt for future reference.

According to the latest UGC guidelines, all candidates must create their ABC ID and DEB ID to get admission.

Now, Get admission twice a year, in July/August and January/February.

UGC updated the list of approved Online programs for the academic batch of 2024-25.

Precautions to be taken by the students before enrolling for programs offered under ODL & Online Learning Mode.

A degree obtained through ODL mode is equivalent to a traditional degree.
