Maharshi Dayanand University is a public funded state university which was established in 1975 under Haryana Act number 25 and it is situated in Rohtak, Haryana. The main objective of the university was to promote interdisciplinary higher education with a major focus on the subjects related to ecology, environment, and life sciences. The Maharshi Dayanand University's main objective since day one was to spread quality education across the nation offer education to the unreached section of society and give an opportunity to the the students who are unable to pursue their higher studies due to lack of facilities or funds, and to overcome these hindrances the university started offering online and distance education programs under its Centre for Distance and Online Education department.
