The University of Jammu was formed in 1969 by the Kashmir and Jammu Universities Act 1969, which followed the division of the former University of Jammu and Kashmir (founded in 1948). The University has been graded 'A+' category by the National Assessment & Accreditation Council of India. According to the Ministry of Human Resource Development's National Institutional Ranking Framework, the University of Jammu was recently ranked 51st. This institution has been designated as a category-I institution in terms of graded autonomy, and has also been awarded autonomy by the University Grants Commission for upholding strong academic standards. The institution optimally harnesses the human capital, learning resources, infrastructure and support services to provide the learners with the best quality of design and delivery of the courses.

Courses Eligibility

Online BA	Candidates who have passed 10+2 examination of the J&K Board of School Education or any other examination recognised as equivalent by the University of Jammu shall be eligible for admission to undergraduate programmes. However, those who have cleared their said examination from board other than J&K Board will have to submit an affidavit.
Online BCom	Candidates who have passed 10+2 examination of the J&K Board of School Education or any other examination recognised as equivalent by the University of Jammu shall be eligible for admission to undergraduate programmes. However, those who have cleared their said examination from board other than J&K Board will have to submit an affidavit.
Online MCom	- Graduation (B.Com.) or in any other discipline with 60% marks - Graduation with PGDBM with at least 50% marks.
Online MA	- Graduation with English Literature as an elective subject - Graduation with 24 credits in the core/DSE courses across all six semesters under the CBCS system - Graduation in any other discipline with 60% marks
Online PG Diploma Programme	Graduation in any stream.
