Being the first open university in India located in Hyderabad, Telangana, Dr B.R. Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU), formerly known as Andhra Pradesh Open University, is a government open university for distance learning. Founded in 1982, BRAOU has been catering to top-notch open & distance education for more than 40 years. The university is accredited by the NAAC with an A grade for maintaining quality education standards for decades. Moreover, its courses are approved by the UGC, making them legitimate and accepted for higher education & jobs in India. Throughout the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, BRAOU is run by a network of 180 Learn Support Centres, which include 23 Regional Coordination Centres (RCCs).
Also known as BRAOU Online, the open university provides academic access to a large number of learners in undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and certification programmes. BRAOU Online has a rigorous eligibility criteria for each course. It varies by courses, depending on your chosen programme. The minimum eligibility for undergraduate courses is a 10+2 qualification. Admission to PG courses requires graduation from a recognised university. Note that the BRAOU BEd and MBA admissions are conducted through an entrance exam. Dr B.R. Ambedkar Open University does not have a scholarship criterion of its own. However, in 2004, the university collaborated with a foundation to offer scholarships upto 30 students at maximum. Presently, BRAOU may offer specific grants for research courses or minor research-based projects. As BRAOU is a regional open university, it may allow you to have access to state-government scholarships or category-based scholarship schemes as per the guidelines of the government of India. The University has established a credible educational status

BRAOU Hyderabad has an extremely affordable fee structure from certification to postgraduate courses. The fee for these courses is generally deposited semester-wise or annually, depending on the course's curriculum. Therefore, the university does not officially have EMI facilities for monthly fee payments.
The admissions process for BRAOU courses takes place in online mode. Fresh admissions generally start from the month of June/July of every year. Sometimes, a second drive may be conducted during December/January. There are direct admissions; no entrance exam is conducted for the BRAOU admission process, excluding the BEd courses. Mode of Examination: The term-end BRAOU exams are conducted offline in face-to-face mode.
Proctoring: Learners’ activities would be monitored in-person by the assigned invigilators in that particular exam centre, allotted by BRAOU Online.
Flexibility: The exam date sheet is decided by the university, which is generally fixed.
Location: BRAOU distance courses exams would be organised at the Learners Support Centres/exam centres, subject to being allotted by the university.
Basic Requirements for Learners: (1) You need to carry a photocopy of the Admit Card / Hallticket at the designated exam centres.
(2) Stationery & two passport-size photographs are mentioned in the hall ticket.
(3) A valid ID proof such as Aadhar Card, Voter ID card, PAN Card, etc.
