NTA Swayam Exam Eligibility Criteria 2025

Before applying for the NTA Swayam exam January semester, you must check whether you meet the eligibility criteria. You can check the official notice for detailed information on the Swayam exam by NTA, including its eligibility criteria. Here is the eligibility criteria:


  • You must have applied to any of the 594 courses in the January 2025 semester to be eligible for the exam.

  • To be eligible for a certificate and credit transfer, if you are a student, you must have obtained 40% marks in the end-term written test and 40% marks in the internal assessment test.

Eligibility for Multiple Exams

If you have applied for more than one course and wish to appear for the January semester exams, here are a few things that you must keep in mind:


  • You are eligible to choose only one course in a single shift. This allows you to spread eight papers across eight shifts.

  • If you have multiple courses, also make sure that the examinations are in different shifts.

NTA Swayam Exam 2025 Application Process & Fee

The registration process for the NTA Swayam exam is completely online. You are allowed to submit the application form only once, multiple submissions shall lead to rejection of the application.   1. Open the official NTA website: https://exams.nta.ac.in/swayam/.

  2. Fill out the registration form for successful registration.

  3. After logging in, fill out the basic information, college details, and address.

  4. Upload a photograph and a signature in the JPG/JPEG format. (sizes as mentioned on the website)

  5. Select the course in which you want to register for the examination.

  6. Select the examination date and the exam centre. For the examination centre, you must give out four choices.

  7. After filling out the form, click on the ‘add course to cart’ button.

  8. Check out the details for the last time on the ‘preview & checkout’ button.

  9. Finally, pay the fee through the online payment mode.

  10. Make sure to take a printout or save the application form for your records.

The application fee for the Swayam exam is given below. You can pay the fee through net banking/debit card/credit card/UPI/wallet. It is recommended to keep the receipt as proof of payment.

NTA would issue an admit card provisionally, which means you would not receive it through the post. NTA Swayam Exam Pattern and Mode of Conduct 2025

The Swayam exam (January semester) is scheduled for 594 courses. There are three types of schemes for the examination. In the first scheme, there are 66 papers with 100 MCQs, carrying one mark each. In the second scheme, there are 463 papers with 50 MCQs, and each question carries two marks. Lastly, in the last scheme, there are 65 courses with 20 MCQs, 10 short answer questions, and 7 long answer questions. You can also look at the NTA website to clear any further doubts.

However, if a question is incorrect and is dropped, then the marks shall be given only to those who have attempted the question.
