MBA = Master of Business Administration
Offered by universities & colleges affiliated with universities
PGDM = Post Graduate Diploma in Management
Offered by autonomous institutes (like IIMs, XLRI)
MBA = Degree
PGDM = Diploma
But, don’t let it fool you. A PGDM from a top B-school is as prestigious as an MBA (sometimes may be more if it’s IIM)
MBA has a university-approved syllabus, which is more theory-based and covers the basics as well.
PGDM is often updated, practical and industry-based, which usually focuses on niche concepts.
MBA is generally economical.
PGDM may get expensive, especially at premier B-schools
But ROI depends on the institution’s placement record and the package you can get.
It depends on your goals, needs, and expectations from the programme. Both are equally credible and valid in the job market.
